Traditionally, American kraft board is made of 100% unbleached sulfate wood pulp, so it is generally called Kraft Linerboard, not Test Linerboard. Later, for the sake of environmental protection, some corrugated cardboard cutting edges (DLK) were blended, but still contained more than 80% of the kraft wood pulp content.

According to the report of the American Forest and Paper Association, in recent years there have been some new trends in the raw material structure of US kraft paper, that is, increasing the proportion of recycled fibers. Some industrial paper mills use waste paper as a raw material to reduce raw material costs and compete with European goods.

In 1990, Noodles made from recycled fiber in the United States produced only 393,000 tons, but by 1999, they had grown rapidly to 4.002 million tons, with an average annual growth rate of 34%. In comparison, the output of wood pulp cattle cards (including more than 80% of native cowhide wood pulp) has grown at an average annual rate of only 1.9% over the past decade.

It is expected that the output of recycled fiber kraft paper will maintain an average annual growth rate of double digits in the next five years.
